Ancient City of Arykanda

Ἀρύκανδα

Few Lycian towns are older than Arykanda, which clings to a steep cliff face at Arif village on the road between Finike and Elmalı. Its earliest monuments, rock tombs and a temple of Helios, date from the 4th century BC, but the town was at its richest in the 2nd and 3rd centuries AD. Surviving buildings include the odeon, the theatre, the Great Bath–Gymnasium complex, the stadium, agora and bouleuterion, villas with mosaic floors, and a basilica from the early 4th century AD.
