Elaiussa Sebaste
Ἐλαιοῦσσα Σεβαστή
According to Strabo, Elaiussa Sebaste, in Erdemli, arose from the union of two towns, Elaiussa and Sebaste, and lay partly on the mainland and partly on the island facing it. Founded in the late 2nd century BC on the coast road from Anatolia to Syria, it prospered as a port and a centre of trade and production until the early 7th century AD.
