Šapinuwa
Shapinuwa, near Ortaköy, was one of the Hittite state’s chief centres of government, military affairs and religion; most of the correspondence found here consists of letters to the great king and queen, which shows that a royal couple lived in the city. It had temples to two different Storm Gods, a queen’s palace and an army headquarters.
